i understand the pricing, because they're one of a kind and require a skilled degree of craftsmanship. but i do think they're sized a bit large. i usually wear a 6.5" bracelet, 7" would be max. it'd be nice to maybe see some bracelets made for smaller wrists, or have some that are adjustable. overall, really beautiful work as always. good luck!

so nice but really not affordable for normal mortals like me. i know they are one of a kind but thats the thing of art, it is just for rich people. anyway much success ;)

I think is so disrespectful to say an artist's product is priced too high! If you can't afford it and think it's nice, just say it's nice.

You don't know the time the artist put into making the pieces, or the cost of the materials or that most artists manage everything related to their store, like taking pictures and editing them, promoting their work, packing and sending or even taking courses to improve their skills and make high quality products.

Ahhh!! Just needed to get it out of my system.

>> Now for the real comment: I love the pieces, Geninne, specially the brooches! They look so delicate, yet so rough...

What's wrong for being sincere? It is super beautiful and if a girl just can't pay it, I don't think is wrong to express it. It is disrespectful not to allow other to express their thoughts.

Good luck to the shop! I bet will sell a lot :) Really a lot of time invested, quality everywhere. Light!

Lovely and fabulous! I'm so excited I was able to order a cuff. A total splurge for me but it's worth it to own such a one-of-a-kind by Geninne. I have to say that I love how you translate your drawings and style into such wonderful mediums, from paintings to rubber stamps to wood-burned cuffs. Love your creativity and ingenuity.

PS-Well said, melo.joyce!

I'm shocked that people think your prices are too high! They're actually right on target, if not cheaper than I expected. Ignore the negative whiners--your work is stunning and you're clearly a prolific hard worker who deserves fair pay.

Aaah! I missed out! Was gonna buy a cuff but was at the Etsy site, by the time I went to the other site the birdies were sold ;( I think the price for a handmade piece of jewelry is fantastic and I agree, 7-7.5 size would be ideal. Fingers crossed that you will be making and selling more of these, or even custom ones? So bummed that I missed out even though I was ready and waiting.

I love the cuffs! So Beautiful!

Just wondering if you could share where you get the card you used for packaging them from?

I have just bought your book and have been looking for some lovely textured card.

Thanks x

Just had to add, these are more than reasonable prices! Actually a bargain. I can imagine these selling well for far, far more at a store like Anthro. These are originals from a talented and well known artist. I just wish I had gotten there sooner to get one of my favorites. Congratulations, Geninne, on your beautiful work.

Wow... I'm kinda shocked that people are upset about your prices. I think your prices are quite reasonable for handmade leather and wood jewelry.

I'm bummed that everything sold out so quickly but look forward to new broaches. I would love one of those bamboo pebble numbers.

Good luck with the new shop, and a suggested link for folks who are not on board with the pricing:

People are probably shocked by pricing because they are used to all the low prices on Etsy and other sites where artists aren't charging enough for their work. Or are used to mass market.

A lot of work and love goes into something made by hand. Not to mention time. And you're getting a piece of art that is one of a kind. And beautiful I may add!

I'll get off my soapbox now :)
Love your work!!

I can't believe that people have had the cheek to tell you that your prices are too high! I thought they were very modest. You are an artist, and these are stunning one of a kind pieces that took both materials and time to make. This is the problem with mass production; it takes away from the Value of things.
Anyway, I was just going to comment that I'm bummed I missed out. Went onto you shop at 6:30 am here in Singapore and everything was sold :(
Keep up your amazing work!

Jesse Lu Bain -- Thanks for the link to that thoughtful article about pricing handmade art. It was very helpful in providing an accurate and gracious response to pricing queries. Geninne, your work is stunning and I'm so impressed by your prolificness. It takes me so long to put a collection of new designs together, so I'm even more impressed with your foray into this new medium.

Man, I'm kicking myself that I didn't get to the shop sooner! I love the cuffs with the red flowers and red berries. On another note, I think we Americans are so used to cheap, imported (from China, usually) products that we balk at paying what is really a fair price. I know when I make things, I don't want to work for $4 an hour...I want to make a reasonable amount of money for my time (and supplies), and I respect that others should ask the same.

Dear Geninne, I was also a bit late as they are all sold out. Is it possible to "order" one? I also have small wrists and would love a bracelet (the narrower ones) with turquoise in it. Also, I think the price is very fair but understand that some art lovers and fans of yours may not be able to afford it. I am lucky to be a single woman in Los Angeles with a decent income (I am not rich but very fortunate to have a good job). I support independent artists and would be willing to offer a bracelet to one of your fans (you chose) who love them but can't afford one. I hope I don't come up as arrogant, as I said, I love to support independant artists in small ways. Let me know if it would be possible.

Love your work! Very beautiful. A fair price for the artistry and blessing force of your designs. What is money? Just a store of value. I'd like to throw my 2 cents in: My husband and I are building a house; we're on a budget right now. I have to pick-and-choose where I splurge. Right now extra dollars went to avocados and a few "Shovels and Rope" O' Be Joyful songs. That'll do. But, I LOVED seeing Shop Open and . . .beholding your fine work. Sure, I'd love one of your handmade cuffs on my wrist (who wouldn't?)but guacamole wins this month. My gal-friends and I love your birdies - love your blog. There are a few blogs that open shops on occasion and whooooosh their goods are sold out in a twinkling!!! Pretty wonderful . . . . . Whoooosh.
