We decided not to get a tree this year so I decorated our tumbleweed branch instead and I love how it looks! I bought those tin stars in San Miguel de Allende ten years ago. Ornaments have come and gone but I never get tired of the stars.
It's a lovely way to bring Christmas into the home without the decorations overwhelming. The stars are lovely. I have my favourite decorations too and sneak them into pride of place positions on the tree.
We've still done a tree, but have gone extra simple this year, through the house. Love your snowflakes, too. Wish I could get mine to stay so flat! Do you starch them or something? Felice Navidad!
simple is beautiful. we didn't decorate much this year either! going to be visiting most of our holiday season. Happy Holidays to you & your talented family!
I am definitely with you on this one. It seems such a shame to chop a tree down just for a week of two in a house. I like the old idea of spraying some twigs with fake snow.
I hope you have a beautiful and peaceful Christmas.
I haven't had a real tree in years and instead I hang a Christmas chandelier. It hangs above the table, lights and all and all of my favorites are up there. Love the stars on your tree.
Love your stars. Love the tags, printing them now! Thank you so much! You are brave to host 20 guests!! Hope it goes well & that you have a very very Merry Christmas!! -Meredith
I am delighted I found your blog! GREAT STUFF... you and "the boy" and the dog! Found it because I was looking for "winter bird" images for a newsletter I do for a small women's group. I love how your paintings and embroidery compliment each other. Happy New Year.
Gorgeous!
I seem to take less ornaments out of our boxes each year. Less is more.
looks lovely. i used tree branches painted white on my mantle this year. love those stars!
The tree is a very unusual and interesting!
That is really really beautiful! Simple and clutter free, lovely!

I like simple yet elegant. I too used only a few of my ornaments this year.
can't wait to visit san miguel with you again
oh i have discovered the cuteness of the mexican tin plate art! i love these stars you found, i really must go back to mexico for more exploration!!
Neat! I picked up a handful of these last month when I was in San Miguel! Love them!
This year they are hanging from my ceiling fan above my kitchen table - but I've always planned on setting up a bare branch like this!

While I don't think I could go without a traditional conifer tree, this is pretty darn awesome too! I agree that those stars make it. :)
Happy holidays!
Your unconventional tree is very stylish. I like it :)
