Prickly Pear

Vermillion Flycatcher
Remember this little guy?
I finally had a chance to paint him on a blooming prickly pear cactus.
Watercolor & acrylic ink on paper. 6 x 6 inches.
Oh! and I forgot to mention you can now become a fan of my work at Facebook!

what kind of paper did you paint on? It looks like it has a yellowish tint... which I love!

I really love this one...the colors are really pretty. Awesome job on the cactus, it has a lovely presence. The lil' birdie is great as always. So fun to paint what you see in nature. I'll show my husband this for when he's in a bad 'prickly' mood --his name is "Peer" but it's pronounced "pear" :)
Thanks for making me smile.

Oh wow! I love the contrast of the red little bird against the greens of the cactus. I also like your use of the white detailing.

Another beauty!
