I wanted to share a sheet of custom wrapping paper I made this weekend
using a vintage postcard I painted with some corals & seaweeds.

I scanned the postcard & repeated the image a couple of times in Photoshop
and used them to make a mirror image until I liked the overall design.

I printed the finished design on my ink jet (Epson Stylus Photo R1800)

And cut out one of my printed fishies to make a custom gift tag.

I really liked how the pattern turned out,
I might use it to make a journal/book cover too.
oh geninne...this is genius. love the symmetry + color, especially the addition of black. dang, your work is amaZing!
Love the paper design... so multi-purpose in gift wrapping. For MANY occasions.

That is lovely & quite ingenious!

Absolutely beautiful, and perfectly crafted! Your seaweed wrap has me inspired beyond words!!

that is absolutely fabulous...all the way down to the twine wrap and fish tag. :-)
absolutely gorgeous! x
i really love how you use white color!
I hope you have a good agent. I would buy anything you made... wrapping paper, note cards, and in the immortal words of "Ellen" on American Idol, even a salad... Just Gorgeous!
I love this! Wish I could do the same... but my printer is crap!
This looks wonderful! You are so creative and your art is beautiful...I hope someday to be as lovely a painter as you!
You're really inspiring! What size paper was this on?
too too gorgeous and stunning. you really hit it out of the park with this one. i just posted about limiting consumption but i'll make an exception for this, please go into production with it!
could i borrow a pic and post it with a link to you?
bravo!
*gasp* Thats the most beautiful wapper I've seen.
I'd love to get something wrapped in that paper. I'll even sponsor the gift inside :)
Thanks for sharing this with this.
I really like how the repeated image turned out! what a neat design. The wrapping paper is a gift in and of itself, for sure.
I love this kind of creating - I often do it myself, too.
This piece is great, especially the combination with rope in matching colour and the fish!
how could the recipient ever tear open the paper now!? Gorgeous Geninne!
A wonderful pattern,I love the sea and this looks great!Ariadne from Greece!
Spectacular - and I am so jealous. I'm guessing the 1800 is a large format printer. I've made my own wrapping paper before, but had to do it all by hand - not nearly as nice as your symmetry - my printer only does standard sizes.
Great idea and beautiful art. Thanks for sharing,
xoxo
So pretty and creative!
wow, absolutely brilliant!
Hello, just stumbled upon your blog. Very inspirational!
Stunning!
Thank you for sharing.
Felicity

i think i can say with all sincerity that this is the most beautiful wrapping paper I have ever seen
Wow, that is seriously stunning. And your Epson Stylus obviously works better than my Epson Stylus CX3200.

I hope to see your comment!
That looks just stunning. Thanks for letting us know what sort of printer you used...do you have just the one type of printer? It's always interesting to hear about what type of equipment other artists use to create their printed images - if you had the time I would love to read a post about that!
magic!!
Hi Genine,
I am the 44th commmenter it would seem who would give my right arm to be the one receiving this astonishingly beautiful gift. I dont think I would ever open it!

you clever girl!
that is so beautiful!
and lovely!
What a gorgeous package! I love the symmetry of the design, and that fish is perfect!
It is beautiful! I just figured out as well that repeating an image can make it even better (I hope to show soon on my blog), but I had yo do it all by hand because I don't know how photoshop works. I think I really should invest some time in learning it. However, I would never be able to make such amazing things as you do!
so ingenious, beautiful and gorgeous.
Oh, you are sooooo talented. A wonderful design.
Wow wow wow...whoever is getting this gift wrapped in your beauty is one lucky recipient...it's too beautiful to unwrap...one could just leave it as is and put it on a shelf like a lovely art object:D
It's absolutely gorgeous. Artful touch.
Stunning! I found you while doing research for my blog about gift wrapping (www.thegiftedblog.com). Definitely bookmarking this for future reference - it's totally unique!

Love this! Thanks so much for sharing. Nice detail with the extra thread wrapped around the package multiple times. Just love your illustrations.
Beautiful! The colors and textures of the painting are so lovely, and make an excellent repeat pattern... a very clever use of your talents!
Truly beautiful! I hope this becomes a commercial venture for you in the future, because I would certainly love to get my hands on some paper (and gift tags) this beautiful!
This is one of the most amazing, wonderful, pefect wraping I've ever seen. Whoever gets this present will not want to open it...I'm sure!
This turned out so lovely and you have so many comments on it that you might need to start selling wrapping papers on Etsy methinks!!
Beautiful work!
flat out gorgeous! who cares what's in that package, the wrapping is a gift all by itself.
Sooooo cute ! Love it !
That fish is SO amazing that it actually looks 3D!!! You're such an artistic genius. I also wanted to tell you that I featured you in my blog today! Much love & total respect!!!
