this is just lovely. i'll have to hope it makes it to your etsy store. in california, we call those flowers california poppies. i wonder if everywhere they grow, people claim them as their own?

Poppies are my favourite! This weekend it is ANZAC day - a time to remember the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who died in WW1 at the landing at Galipolli and all returned servicemen. Poppies are the symbol of this celebration because they grow so abundantly in Flanders field in France where many soldiers are buried. I had colourful Icelandic poppies as a wedding bouquet. Love them!

We call them California Poppies in England too Karen Bowers. And they are superb.

gorgeous! reminds me of the california poppies we just saw growing all over san diego, carlsbad, and lovely san juan capistrano. I beth Karen Bowers (above) is right: we all want to call them our own! they are so beautiful!

I love the colors, poppies are my fav (orange and red ones!). Your combination of colors are superb. Your blog wants me to paint watercolors again, I switched to oils some time ago. I have a question though if you don't mind. I am good at drawing from another drawing but not out of my imagination :( Any suggestion on how I can learn to draw without any reference? Your help would be so appreciated, thanks!!!
