Going Big

Big Canvas
Faux Cyanotype
Work in Progress
So, I've had this big blank canvas leaning on the wall for over a year and yesterday I finally had the itch to paint something on it. Work in progress, acrylics on canvas 40 x 40 inches.  When I finished the background the sun was setting and my plants cast some lovely shadows on the canvas. I hope that the finished piece is a tiny bit as beautiful as what I captured last night.

I'm curious about the acrylics you mentioned. I purchase a bottle of white "ink" that looks like what I've seen you using in other posts (acrylic ink?) but I'm wondering if you are using that again here or traditional tube or jar acrylic paints?

(PS - beautiful as ever and I can't wait to see the end results!)

This piece of artwork is great. The size and attention to detail of the painting is great. It is definitely something that I would recommend to others.

There must be something in the air because I just gessoed and stretched canvas last night for a new painting. I'm going a year-long project and documenting it on my blog - in an effort to get me painting again, writing and doing photography. :)

It is so exquisite, just as it is! I'm sure whatever else you add will be wonderful, but I'd hang it on my wall just like this! You have such a way with blue.

Hi Geninne! I'm Karen, an artist based on the east coast of Scotland. I wasn't sure how best to contact you but wanted to say that I've been following your blog for ages and it never fails to inspire! Now that I have my own blog, I wanted to share your blog with some of my artist friends and readers - so I've given you a mention, included a picture of your February calender and linked back to your site. Hope this is ok, but if there's anything you'd like me to amend, just let me know. Meanwhile, thanks for all the lovely art. Karen x

Love the colors you chose. I wanted to visit to tell you that I just sat down with your new book and it has so inspired me. I took it out from the library but now that I have held it, I know it is one that I will be ordering to have in my bookshelf.
Thanks for sharing your talents with us all,
Cathy T
