If a Bird Flew...
I just received my brand new copies of the third book
I illustrated for Eschbach in Germany!
The book is called "Kommt ein Vogel geflogen, Himmlische Grüße und Wünsche"
by Hanna Mühlbauer.
I think it translates to "If a Bird Flew, Heavenly Greetings & Wishes".
I don't speak German so correct me if I'm wrong ;)
I'll be back this coming Thursday to celebrate my birthday
with a giveaway that will include a copy of this book, a watercolor original
among many other surprise goodies!
It's going to be a good one, I hope you will join me.

Great book. I love your illustrations :)! I'm glad some other germans realized that too...
Your translation is not completely right, but it's really hard to translate. It's not past tense, it's more like a description of something, that is happening at the moment. It's a german (kid's) song and there is a first-person narrator singing. It's something like: A bird is flying towards me (and it is sitting down on my feet... )
I think that's confusing, but I don't know how to explain it better...

"Kommt ein Vogel/Vöglein geflogen" is a german song, the origin of the song is in Austria! Oh, Fee already explained :)

I am neither a native German nor a native English speaker but I would translate the quotation into "Heavenly Greetings and Wishes flying like a bird"
Whatever is the correct translation it is a beautifully illustrated book I think of poems?

I just commented on your birthday - then scrolled down. I saw Kommt ein Vogel geflogen and had tears in my eyes. It is a traditionel German song, one that my grandmother used to sing to me. Now-a-days I doubted that the children still know this song.
I have the melody in my brain now.
It translates somewhat like:
Comes a bird flying by,
sits down on my foot.
Has got a paper in its beak.
From the mother a greet.
Dear bird, keep on flying,
take with you a greet and a kiss,
I can't go with you,
because I have to stay here.
