Jared Treasures

A little exercise in observation.
On the right, a watercolor version of my little jar of treasures.
A little branch piece covered in yellow lichen from Sweden, pebbles, seeds and tiny shells from Argentina, feathers & some sprigs from Canada,
and a couple of pretty red beans from yesterday's morning walk with Turbo.
Don't know why but I just *love* little things displayed in glass jars.

Eres increible Geninne!
Saludos afectuosos :o)

That's a lovely idea I hadn't seen before, I might try it.
awesome! your work never ceases to inspire me :)
Wow, Geninne,
Some of your heart really blows me away.
This is stunning.
xoxo
Wow, at first sight I didn't notice the difference. Which keeps me wondering, do you first take a picture and draw from the picture or do you draw from the actual object (the jar) and then try to take a picture form the exact same angle?
such a beautiful little collection of treasures~!
I teach Art and that is THE most awesome idea Ive seen in AGES, Im totally stealing it! (if you don't mind)
maya
Beautiful!
You are amazing!
So beautiful! What a great idea!
I too am wondering if you take the picture first or just paint from observation.
AND...
Great idea Maya! I teach art too and am looking forward to trying this (assuming Geninne's ok with it).
Great, they look just alike !!
Qué tengas lindo día
i love things in jars too. i have them all over the place filled with rocks or pine cones or a combination of things:)
Wow this is great! I love to see the object + drawing side by side. Beautiful watercolor work! Inspiring! Thanks! ♥ I've been trying to get inspired with my watercolor work lately.
this is just beautiful!
this is just beautiful!
I just love how you break things down into their essential shapes. It teaches me so much to see how you do this through the comparison!
What a gorgeous display both the real and the painted! I would love to see one sea themed with some shells and definitely sea glass inside!Ariadne from Greece!
it's so lovely~
I also have little jars filled with white sand and shells. They are my memories back in Hawaii. :)
Beautiful! I love terrariums and glass jars myself. Both of your versions are lovely :-)
So lovely!
Love these jars. I have several of them and they are beautiful on their own, but I love the idea of adding found objects to them... thanks for sharing. Beautiful work.
I'm with Maya..I teach middle school art and the next time we are doing a still life we are going to put them into glass jars! Great idea:)
i like yours better than the real thing! lovely idea.
Oh my - it took me quite a while to figure out one was real and one was a painting! Awesome job, Geninne!

Beautiful, I almost thought that both were photos. The brown nubbly seeds look like sheeoak ones. The plant is originally from Australia!!
Ah, so THATS what I do with the little natural wonders that have a tendancy to gather on my desk!! So simple...so beautiful..
Oh Geninne, you are so tallented!!
Lindo!!!!
you almost can't tell which one is the real jar! super job geninne!
You know I have a bunch of jars that I saved to do something special with. I just couldn't think of anything cool.. until I saw this!
I must do the same. I have a habit too of collecting things on my walks and when camping or walking the beach. This would be a good way to store them like the treasures they are.
Absolutely love what you have done here.

So lovely! Cuidado con los 'frijoles rojas' - they look to be from the coral bean (Erythrina sp.), which are native to Mexico and are very poisonous, so don't let Turbo snack on one!
Gracias Geninne. Un abrazo
wow so pretty! that is cool to have stuff from all over.
Gorgeous. But *switches to a whisper* how do you carry your natural treasures across borders? Is Mexico less of a stickler than the US?
I'm living in Australia at the moment and am consistently blown away by the seed pod selection. A collection is being added to an old type case in my studio.
it's so so pretty! and i totally understand your love for little things in jars.
i also like the way you did the jar. i have been playing with that, that is, how to draw/paint glass/jars. this was very inspiring :)
As always your work is amazing! Every time I stop by your blog there is some lovely creation to see. These jars are like little treasure troves to remind us just how wonderful mother nature is. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I'm inspired to collect and save tiny treasures in jars after this post.
This is just great....Holly Lewis Hudley recommended this site and WOW, I really love what you do.

You are amazingly talented! Your blog is very inspiring, I love your birdies!!! I have been lurking around your blog for some time and finally decided to comment. May I ask if you use glass paints to paint on jars? Lately I have seen *pens* from Pebeo for glass painting, I thought they might work for finer details....hope you don't mind answering. Keep inspiring us!!!
