It's adorable as is... love it... but I always love your fantastic colors too! And I think that mushroom should be red! :o)

A lovely siesta, makes me want to take one. I love seeing the bird resting on the mushroom like that! The drawing is beautiful as it is, but I love your colors, so I would vote for coloring it.

I think you should make a coloring book, and this should be page 1, so I can color him!

I love the drawing, and I am a sucker for black and white drawings, but if you are not coloring it, I would suggest varying the line weights to help establish where you want the eye to travel through the composition!

Very cute piece! If you DO paint it, it will be awesome too!

10/01/2009 12:25 PM
Blogger Candace Trew Camling said...

let me clarify that... since there is some variance in the line weights... I still think some of the lines are a bit too thin without color... and I want to see the mushrooms and flower a but more! I really really love your drawing style! Its really exciting to see a piece uncolored!

This isn't going to help but I think both ways are nice. Can you do a black and white version as well as a color one?

I think I'd like it painted.

I appear to be the only one that thinks the bird looks dead. Even when I try to imagine him sleeping I just see a dead bird. Like he has ceased to be, expired, gone to meet his Maker...stone dead. Sorry -- that's what I see.

Re: coloring, I say go for it. I always think your pieces look done when you've completed the outline and then I'm totally blown away when you color them.

I vote for a bit of colour and a bit of black and white. But you will know what to do and whatever you choose it will be fantastic. Sweet dreams little bird.

Oh man I love your work, and this is great, but I have to admit also, that at first glance I thought the little guy was belly up so to speak, that is 'mort'. But I still think it's great, and worth some colour. Lovely :)

I had the same reaction at first too: the bird looks a bit dead (maybe it could use something as a blanket? leaves or so??)

I think color would be great!

I say, a soft, not-inside-the-lines, watercolor wash on just a couple of parts of the page.

Love the sunflower sombrero!

I really like the setting, but I think he looks dead too. Do birds sleep like this? I thought they slept nestled down with their beaks tucked around their wings.

I'm glad he's only sleeping. For a minute i thought he looked a trifle - dead!
Lovely though!

First look - I thought it was a dead bird. I hv generally seen dead birds in this position. Sleeping birds - never upside down.
