Peek at a new watercolor I'm working on. I made the pencil drawing today.
I'll watercolor it later tonight. I always feel a compulsion to paint when it's raining outside, the grayer the day the better. What kind of day inspires you to paint?
I love the kind of day when the snow floats down to the window seals. Or, when I have got enough sunshine per diem, I enjoy a good sun ray through the blinds filling up the room with warm radiant light. Looking out to the passerby's as they stroll past on a soft spring-summer eve, like today.
whenever I see something like your blog it is inspiring to paint and draw everyday. I loved the video you madwe, please post some of those!!! I need inspiration .
Other artists, like you, inspire me much more than any particular day. Thank you for sharing, Geninne. You made me pick up the brushes again (and forget about former watercolor instructors!).
Delightful drawing!!! I can't wait to see how spectacular it becomes once you add color to it. What a wonderful question, I love reading everyone's comments, especially the ones who are inspired by YOU! YOU are an inspiration to me too!! I love to paint when the sun fills my studio. Blessings and HUGS for your encouragement!
Rainy days are the best! I can't understand why most people don't like them, but this probably makes me like them even more! I think I can do anything in such a day, even take walks as long as I have some waterproof boots on! I don't even need an umbrella! :) Oh, and I have discovered that I am most productive at night, when everything is so quiet..
I'm inspired by sunny days, the happiness of my life, all of my good moods, the beauty around me. If I'm in a bad mood I never paint, work. It may sound stupid because life is full of good and bad and you mus handle both. But in my work I don't want black and bad to be present. I love your work! Congratulations!
Bonjour Geninne! This drawing is so close to the Indian themes, with the elaborate tree and the graceful peacocks! Are you fill in colour into this or this just a reference drawing? A cloudy, rainy day or even a hail-storm outside is when I enjoy sitting in a warmly lit room with my work the most, not to mention the cup of masala-tea that has to give me company! Have a great weekend! dithi.
I'm not sure I've ever noticed a connection between weather and work. It's more of a time thing. If I have loads of time stretched out in front of me, I am most open and creative. If I have to fit creating into an hour or less, I'm more like to sit in front of the computer and putter around.
I noticed that comment about the coloring book. I'm sure that is much easier said than done. But if it were ever to come about, I'd be a buyer. One for me, one for my daughter.
i`m inspired by rainy days and jazz music . like john coltrane album- music for lovers. i`m so praying to rain soon so i can feel better and inspired. your drawings are WONDERFUL. i`m so happy and INSPIRED to see new coming painting. ant to tell you a little secret i often take a look at my favourites of your watercolour :)))
When the golden late-afternoon light comes through my hobby room window, that's when I need to create. Unfortunately, it's usually just dinner! lol
Geninne, I love your peacock tree. They are such a great subject for art, but never again do I want one living in MY trees... they're a nightmare! But I still enjoy drawing them. They are so nice and quiet then... can't wait to see yours painted.
Good question! Rainy days are good for painting because you don't feel guilty for not enjoying the great weather! It's nice and cozy inside with a cup of tea and a rainstorm.
Although for landscape paintings with my watercolors, a sunny day is great :) Great work, Gennine!
Cualquier día es bueno pero temprano, muy temprano -al menos durante el verano-. Inspiración? Ver blogs tan creativos como el tuyo hacen bullir un algo dentro, ganas de hacer cosas. Precioso árbol! Saludos, Geninne!
You are an amazing artist! I love your illustrations and I am a huge fan of birds. Your paintings make me feel so colorful! Thank you for doing such great work. :)
Hi Gennine, just to say that your all work is an universe of inspiration.I also prefer rainny days to paint. The good weather makes be go outside and enjoy nature in a different way. I live in Gran canaria, so there is a lot of sunny days to enjoy... ;) Thanks for sharing your wonderful paintings.

Any day that I get to look at your drawings or paintings is a day in which I feel inspired to try it myself!
Can't wait to see what the watercolour will look like. :-)
I like ANY day rain or shine when I can carve out time for creativity!(Usually requires turning blind eye to housework..)
Peacock Tree is exquisitely intricate--looking forward to seeing finished result!

Sorry about the typo in my last comment, rephrasing: ''Are you going to fill in colour into this or is this just a reference drawing?''

Your sketches are so beautiful :)
I can't explain what inspires me to paint or draw, I think I just have to wake up with that "feeling" :)
I LOVE that you share the process of your creativity with us, your tools, your tricks, your tutorials. Thank You !!

Love the peacocks! I agree grey and gloomy get my creative juices going. Settles the mind :)
I need daylight to paint. Overcast is the best condition because the light is diffused. I love your drawing and can't wait to see the painting!
I like to paint at night mostly, but rainy days have something special.
i love the inspiration that comes from a mysterious misty cool & dreary day. rain even makes it better. thanks 4 sharing, jo
well then you live in the right dreary rainy spot.

blousy, cloudy days inspire me. I love to stay inside and paint. also, thanks for showing us your process! I love it -- so inspiring!
I like to paint on sunny days when I can see the details
I feel like painting on typical autumn days in Argentina. Sunny, cool weather and a gentle breeze.
