A work in progress

Today I'm attempting to make
a faux butterfly display to give to my son Daniel
for his birthday in November.
I painted the butterflies with watercolors first,
then cut the wings with my X-acto knife
and folded them just slightly to give the effect
of a real mounted one.
I'm really happy with the result
but it turned out to be much more labor intensive
than I thought it would be...
I plan to frame it in a nice shadow box.

How fun! Not to mention, much less morbid than dead butterflies.

Tus mariposas son preciosas! Preciosas.

Me encanto el comentario que me dejaste en el blog. Muchas veces se me olvida lo muy conocido que es JB por el mundo... :-)

I always thought it would be great to have something like that! Like illustrated butterflies instead of the real thing. Looks beautiful, I am sure it is alot of work. Totally worth it!
